To be scored, you need to sign up for a race committee date. If you don't see your name on the Race Committee Schedule, then you have not signed up, and will not be scored. Also, make sure you have renewed your PHRF Rating.

Labor Day Cruise to Pirates Beach (Friday, September 04, 2026)

Labor Day weekend is right around the corner! The cruise to Pirates Beach is on. The cruise will be the same as in previous years. Come and anchor out to enjoy the beach, bonfire at night and other impromptu activities that pop up. If you need any further information, please reach out to me. From the feedback I'm hearing, we are going to have a lot of boats this year as usual. Power and sailboats are welcome. The more the merrier! We hope to see many of you soon.

The GPS coordinates are 37*38.289' N 76*19.181'W. Fleets Bay is just North of the entrance to the Rappahannock River. After you pass the mouth of the Rappahannock you would go west into Fleets Bay and then southwest into Little Bay toward AntiPoison Creek. "2" Red day mark for AntiPoison Creek is close to where we will be. We will be as close to the beach as our 4' draft will allow. There should be 12' - 16' of water.

This cruise is a combination of sailing, hanging out and enjoying night time fires on the beach. For day time fun, we will have yard games, horseshoes and fun floats to play with. Sailors have been known to pick a boat to hang out on during the day and float and swim in the water. Nothing is formally planned.

If you have an extra table, pop-up, grill or firewood, please bring them because we can always utilize them.

Since this cruise is well attended, it is sometimes difficult to spread the word on events that pop up. If you plan on attending and would like to be included in a group text the weekend of Labor Day, I will put it on a group chain so anyone that wants to be included in various pop-up parties or a friendly competition of paddle board races, blind dinghy races etc... will be notified.

September 7 is the make-up day in case of weather cancelation.

Location: On the beach in vicinity of 17th Bay St East Ocean View

Cost: $30 for single-handed; $40 for double-handed

BBSA Summer Racing Series Registration (Saturday, September 19, 2026)

This is an exciting race series for BBSA members. Non-members are most welcome.

One of the objectives of this series is to have three mid-distance races that are "close to home" for almost all BBSA racers - Little Creek Racers, Willoughby Racers and BBSA members with boats near Hampton Yacht Club (HYC) and Old Point Comfort Yacht Club (OPCYC).

Additionally, we will include the classes that our members want to use –

PHRF A, B, C & N (1 HS)
PHRF Cruising
ORC Performance Cruiser (spinnaker)
Cruising - for our novice 1st/2nd year racers.

If too few are interested, we may cancel it.
If all participants want to compete in the Spin fleet, we may drop NonSpin.
And vice versa.

Neptune's Atlantic Regatta (Saturday, September 26, 2026)

BBSA's last race of the season, Neptune's Atlantic Regatta, is affiliated with Virginia Beach's Neptune Festival. Starting off Little Creek, racers transit the Chesapeake Bay Bridge-Tunnel, sail down the coast, and finish off 24th Street. After a night of fun at the Festival, participants leave the event's complimentary Rudee Inlet dockage (which is on a first come, first served basis) and return home. This race is part of the Southern Bay Distance Racing Series (SBDRS).

Every boat competing in Neptune’s Atlantic Regatta can also compete for a cause by raising money for the Virginia Beach Surf & Rescue Museum.

The boat that raises the most money wins the
2026 Virtual Regatta Trophy,
presented at the awards dinner on September 27.

Entries close at midnight on Friday before the regatta.

Willoughby Memorial Race (Saturday, October 03, 2026)

Join us for an October tradition on Willoughby Bay... the Memorial Race. Racing is for non-spinnaker, single headsail. This is a staggered-start, pursuit-style race with handicaps taken into consideration at the start. Each boat will have its own starting time. There will be a post-race party (approx. 3:30pm) with refreshments at the Rebel Marina Breezeway Cafe. Race awards will be handed out at the Willoughby End-of-Season Party following the Hot-Buttered Rum Race in November. Entry fee is FREE for BBSA Members (dues paid). All others - $10
