We will circumnavigate the DELMARVA peninsula during 9 days – 8 nights. We will transit the C&D Canal, Delaware Bay, Chesapeake Bay and coastal waters either clockwise or counterclockwise. Full moon is Aug 28.

Proposed dates are:

  • Aug 22 thru Aug 30 (Preferred week)
  • Aug 29 thru Sept 7 (Labor Day) Backup week)

The itinerary will include an overnight coastal passage from Norfolk, VA to Lewes, MD. This could be at the start of the week or the end. Overnight passages are more spectacular with or near a full moon. Power boats are also welcome.

Overnight stops will give opportunities for marina stays and anchorages with visits ashore.  The itinerary will be set as the cruise date approaches.  Please provide other recommendations for stops to make. We will schedule some discussions with participants a few weeks prior to departure, so we can talk through options, weather and stopping locations.

Some places to consider:

  • Lewes, MD just inside Delaware Bay at one end of the coastal passage. There appears to be marinas only.
  • Chesapeake City, MD on the C&D canal. Good place for dinner and anchor or marina.
  • Rock Hall, MD – marina or anchor in Swan Creek.
  • St. Michaels, MD – marina or anchor. CBMM members may use the on-site marina. A visit to the maritime museum is always fun.
  • St Mary’s River is a nice anchorage in front of the St Mary’s College up the Patomac River. You can visit the history and archeologic site of Historic St. Mary’s City (Maryland’s first capital).
  • Reedville, VA – anchor or marina
  • Deltaville, VA – anchor or marina
  • Onancock, VA – anchor in the harbor or tie up at the town dock. A couple good places to eat amongst some VA Eastern Shore charm.
  • Mobjack Bay – There are several good anchorages.

If you are interested in the cruise, please provide your preferred dates, stops and contact information.
