For the 2024 Leo Wardrup Memorial Cape Charles Cup, we have decided to offer everyone a chance to design the graphic that is printed on our event shirts, skippers' bags, and on the yearbook cover. We are running a competition from March 1-April 15 for the most innovative, attractive, and appropriate artwork. You can use photography or other methods to create original designs that you are willing to donate to the Leo Wardrup Memorial Cape Charles Cup organizing committee.

We plan to incorporate the winning design, wholly or partially, in the final design that will appear on shirts (t-shirts, tech shirts, etc.), the skipper's bags, the yearbook cover, and other documents. Runners-up will be featured in composite pages in the yearbook and website with full attribution.

New for 2024, the Broad Bay Sailing Association is teaming with Hampton Yacht Club to include The Cape Henry Cup into the 2024 Hampton Roads Hospice Regatta, in support of the Dozorets Hospice House of Hampton Roads.

Information about the Hospice House can be found at: https://www.hospicehousehr.org/

The Cape Henry Cup Race was established in 1974. As one of the most popular races on the southern Chesapeake, the course originally passed out through the Maryland Channel opening of the Chesapeake Bay Bridge-Tunnel and returning through the Thimble Shoal Channel opening. Now we maintain the distance, but usually do not go through the openings.

If you are interested, please reach out Eric Brinsfield, 2024 LWMCCC Chair, or to any committee member to ask questions.  Please register your interest here.  Click on the Register button and you can specify what types of help you can offer.

During registration, you will see these questions:

    • Volunteer pool: If you are willing to be contacted throughout the year for short tasks, select Yes to be added to the volunteer pool.
    • Specific tasks:  Select all that you might be willing to do.  These are volunteer jobs for specific events, dates, and times.
    • Future committee positions:  If you are willing to be part of the planning committee next year, we can start your training now.  You can shadow the current committee members.  Job descriptions are available on the CCC Volunteers page.

NOTE:  Your name will not be publicly listed on the website.  Only the committee will have access to your name.
